Agent

I’ve been thinking about a question: when we collaborate with AI Agents, is that state of deep focus — flow — enhanced or interrupted?

The Essence of Flow

Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi defined flow as: a state of complete immersion that occurs when skill and challenge are perfectly matched. In traditional programming, we often enter flow when solving a problem that’s just the right level of difficulty.

But the Agent era has changed this equation.

Agents as Flow Catalysts

When Agents take over tedious, repetitive work, humans can concentrate cognitive resources where creativity truly matters. This isn’t replacement — it’s a new rhythm of collaboration:

Humans handle direction and intuition; Agents handle execution and verification.

This division of labor lowers the threshold for flow. You no longer need to remember every API parameter, no longer need to switch back and forth between documentation and code. You just need to maintain continuity of thought.

New Challenges

But this also brings new risks. Over-reliance on Agents may lead to “shallow flow” — seemingly efficient, but lacking deep thinking. We need to guard against this illusion.

True flow should be a resonance formed between human and Agent.

This is the first post on this blog. I’ll continue to document my observations and thoughts on the Agent era here.
